Introduction to Subtask

Last updated on Dec 28, 2025

Subtasks in Oktuple allow you to break down larger tasks into smaller, actionable items. This feature enhances clarity, accountability, and progress tracking–especially for complex assignments that require multiple steps or contributors.

🔍 Why Use Subtasks?

Subtasks are helpful when you need to:

  • Break a task into smaller, sequential actions

  • Assign different people to different parts of a task

  • Track each sub-goal's progress individually

  • Stay focused on bite-sized objectives instead of the full workload

✍️ How to Create Subtasks (Step-by-Step)

Follow these steps to create subtasks within any main task:

  • Go to your Kanban Board, Backlog, or any list view.

  • Click on the task you want to add subtasks to.

    Or from board view:

    2. Locate the Subtasks Section

    • Inside the task modal, scroll to find the Subtasks section—it's typically near the bottom.

      3. Add a New Subtask

Click the ➕ Add Subtask button.

    • A new input field will appear. Enter the title of your subtask.

    • (Optional) Click into the subtask to:

      • Add a description

      • Assign it to a team member

      • Set due dates, tags, or priority

        4. Save the Subtask

        • Hit ✅ Save or press Enter to confirm and add the subtask to the list.

          👁️ Viewing Subtasks

Oktuple displays subtasks directly within the parent task’s modal, so you can track them without switching views.

          To view subtasks:

          • Open the main task modal.

          • Scroll down to see all linked subtasks.

👉 If we add more subtasks, they will appear in the list.

            👨‍👩‍👧 Assigning Subtasks

You can assign each subtask to different team members based on expertise or responsibility. This enables:

            • Parallel task progress

            • Better delegation

            • Focused accountability

              💡 Pro Tips

              • Use subtasks for checklist-like breakdowns of tasks

              • Assign individual due dates to subtasks for better time management

Add comments or attachments to subtasks for context after opening them
